Perfect Combination: clinPAL and ICP-MS Redefine Analysis of Clinical Samples
ICP-MS is one of the most powerful techniques in elemental analysis. But these highly sensitive instruments are equipped with rather simple sample handling solutions. We believe that this technique deserves a strong partner - a real PAL!
With clinPAL, Analytik Jena is introducing the first fully automated sample handling solution for measuring clinical samples with ICP-MS under full control. It is designed to suit the typical laboratory workflow to measure human body fluids like plasma, urine, serum and whole blood.
The heart piece of clinPAL is a laterally movable module that carries a height adjustable needle and a magnet. The needle is covered with a special coating to enable septum piercing of typically used vials in the clinical laboratory environment and yet prevent any cross contamination. The magnet is used to transport the vials to the barcode reader and vortexing module.
As the vial passes through the barcode reader the information is transferred to ASpectMS, the software of the PlasmaQuant MS, and inserted in the respective slot of the measurement sequence.
Both the undiluted and the diluted sample are shaked on the vortexer to enable an optimal homogenization. The prepared sample is inserted into the PlasmaQuant MS via a switching valve. The injection triggers the measurement in the ASpectMS software.
The rack capacity of clinPAL can be modified to suit your individual sample throughput requirements. Also there is no need to transfer the sample to an intermediate vial before placing it on the device. clinPAL can easily handle commonly used vessels like vacutainers or monovettes as primary vials. For diluting the sample we offer several vial sizes; again depending on your individual needs.

clinPAL 850 is equipped with 2 rackholders to bear up to 6 racks. It provides automated sample handling and preparation of up to 96 samples in one run, while being compact in footprint.
clinPAL 1200 - Automated Sample Handling and Preparation System
The clinPAL 1200 is equipped with 4 rackholders to bear up to 12 racks. It provides automated sample handling and preparation of up to 192 samples in one run.
